History
While most companies were founded by a single person, Event Cinemas came to exist through the collaborative efforts of seven individuals.
Its operations started in the 20th century; a living testament of how passion for the silver screen can stand the test of time, as it has been operating for 100 years now.
At the moment, Event Cinemas is the leading subsidiary of Event Hospitality & Entertainment Limited with other affiliates including hotel chains and resorts.
It has also been active in empowering the Australian film industry as it sponsors the annual Australian Short Screenplay Award, which gives $5000 cash prize for short films with excellent screenwriting.

Event Cinemas is known for its reward points system known as “Cinebuzz,” which can be earned depending on the cinema experience the viewer avails. Standard sessions (2D and 3D) offers the least number of points as compared to the Vmax and Gold Class screenings. Viewers are entitled to a free movie ticket once they’re able to collect sufficient points. Specific rules apply to students and senior citizens.
Event Cinemas also cater to parents who want to tag their babies along. Selected cinemas have “Bring Your Baby” screenings thrice a month, where mums and dads can enjoy their well-deserved break without having to leave their little ones at home.
