History

Rave Cinemas LLC was established on 2009 by the TowerBrook capital partners, a private equity firmed in New York, with two other investors, Lambert Media Group and Charles B. Moss, Jr. They bought the RMP brand from Boston venture that also possessed the Rave Review Cinemas (RRC), LLC.

Even after what happened, the RRC still continue to operate their twenty-one more properties under RMP brand with an agreement to Rave cinemas LLC pertaining to its management and services. Simultaneously, Rave Cinemas LLC bought another real estate and business operations of thirty-five properties from National Amusement (NAI) Inc., a private theater company in America. The properties purchased from NAI were rebranded also to RMP in late 2010.

But in October of 2012, Rave Review Cinemas LLC sold its sixteen theaters with 251 screens of probable lease obligations to Carmike. In November of the same year, another agreement happened between RRC and Carmike, but the sale was subject to antitrust law, which prohibited large firms overtaking their competitors in any other means like fixing prices or interfering with free competition. Finally the agreement ended with 32 Rave cinemas acquired by Carmike for $250M.

After Carmike Cinemas, the next buyer of Rave Cinemas was AMC Theatres, who bought four theatres in the year 2012, then another six in January 4, 2013. The Digital Media of Rave, along with Continental Retail were also sold to AMC Theatres with at least 6 properties. Other companies who have bought Rave Cinemas theatre locations in 2013 were Starplex Cinemas and Cinemark Theatres.
